Erik of Pomerania’s Chamber

Erik of Pomerania’s Chamber

The chamber, which is 600 years old, is the oldest room in the castle. With its rustic walls and wooden pillars, the chamber provided the setting for some important decisions. The evidence suggests that the agreement on the Sound Dues was signed in this very room. The Sound Dues were a very profitable source of revenue for Denmark for 430 years. The chamber now makes an ideal venue for lunches, conferences and receptions. The chamber adjoins an antechamber where you can still see the old arrow slits in the walls.
