Visit Kronborg Today

– UNESCO world heritage site

Over time Kronborg became less important for the royals and from 1785 to 1923 the castle and its surroundings became military facilities. After that Kronborg became a maritime museum before it was accepted as a site of world heritage by UNESCO.

Today there’s something to see for everybody at the castle – whether you want to follow in the footsteps of Hamlet, visit the statue of the mythical and slumbering warrior Holger the Dane in the dark casemates beneath the castle or if you want to learn about life at the royal court, told by our dedicated castle hosts.
