Frederik 2.s Vinkælder

Underneath Kronborg Castle lies Frederick II’s Wine Cellar. Here he had a wine collection, which was probably one of the largest in Renaissance Europe. He sourced the wine from the many ships that docked in Elsinore to pay the Sound Dues. With its huge vaults, the wine cellar is an impressive sight. The room is now used for dinners and receptions. There is an adjoining annex which is primarily used for catering when events are held.

The wine cellar measures 30 x 11 metres.
The annex measures 2 x 11 metres.
