-The Palace of Prince Knud

The palace was originally built as a country seat in 1706 at the same time as the Baroque garden was established.

The present palace from 1756 is now in the Neoclassicist style. Right down until today the palace has been used as a residence for the members of the Royal Family, among others Queen Margrethe II’s uncle, Prince Knud, and his wife, Princess Caroline-Mathilde.

The palace is closed to the public.

Sorgenfri Palace Gardens

Sorgenfri Palace Gardens is a tranquil, wooded natural garden laid out around the lake Lyngby Sø and Mølleådalen. Around 1800 the garden was converted from a Baroque to a Romantic garden, with winding paths and small buildings elegantly placed in the landscape, including ‘the Swiss House’, ‘the Grotto’ and ‘the Queen’s Well’.

the Palace Gardens are open year round.
The Private Garden is closed to the public.
